Photography#

If you'd be at all interested in another part of me than the technical stuff that's been dominating this blog for the past few years, feel free to check out my pictures on Flickr or subscribe directly to my photo feed. I've decided against publishing everything here as well, so all my photos will be visible on Flickr only.

Since the last picture I posted here, I've bought a brand-new Nikon D80 a few weeks ago and I'm so pleased with this digital reflex camera (in a kit with a 18-135mm DX lens) that I can't stop trying out new things, reading and re-reading books on digital photography and just basically feeling up the machine :-) So if you know of any courses (near Antwerp, Belgium), great books or websites I might check out, please let me know! And if you have a strong opinion and want to help me learn: please comment on my Flickr photos!

Hey Jelle,

This book is very interesting : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-Photography-Book-Scott-Kelby/dp/032147404X/sr=1-1/qid=1168503992/ref=sr_1_1/203-0992295-1679144?ie=UTF8&s=books
And if you are up for it, also look into some books about RAW workflow processing ! Because the things you can adjust when you use RAW is great !

Thanks depechie, I already read "The Digital SLR Handbook" by Rob Sheppard (http://www.amazon.com/PCPhoto-Digital-Handbook-Lark-Photography/dp/1579906028/sr=8-1/qid=1168510207/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-8060536-4344132?ie=UTF8&s=books) - which is a pretty good book that covers a lot of topics.

Yours looks pretty cool too so I think I'll give that a try as well, the more I can get to know the better :-)

Hi Jelle,

Great photos on Flickr! I've added you as a Flickr contact so I can keep an eye on your photo's (my account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/neleenjan/).

I bought my Nikon D40 DSLR last month and I love it! I can recommend a site that I visit: www.dpreview.com. They have a very active forum.

Regards
Jan

Jelle great photographs, I especially like the photo of the Louvre and the one at the Seine. I was thinking of buying a SLR camera too, I guess this is going to be the next big hobby for us geeks, maybe we should start a SLR user group :-)

Hmmm a Digital SLR user group... I like that, could be the first Visug spin-off :-)

I was actually looking for some sort of local photography community in the Antwerp region, anybody know of anything interesting? Or should we really launch something ourselves?

Nice photos! I haven't add a comment yet but added you to my contacts (t3mujin) so I'll be doing it one of these days.
Now that you joined flickr one nice thing to do is join some groups, there are many of them available.

It's nice to find other "computer geeks/photohraphy addicts" out there :)

Maybe starting a geek-dslr-user-group would be a little bit overkill, but maybe we can organize a "photowalk"? http://scobleizer.com/2007/01/21/photo-training/ If we can get the message out to the Belgian bloggers (also non-geeks) we may get actually some people to show up! :-)

This is my personal website, not my boss', not my mother's, and certainly not the pope's. My personal opinions may be irrelevant, inaccurate, boring or even plain wrong, I'm sorry if that makes you feel uncomfortable. But then again, you don't have to read them, I just hope you'll find something interesting here now and then. I'll certainly do my best. But if you don't like it, go read the pope's blog. I'm sure it's fascinating.
